Extensions & conversions
Single and double storey extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions and side returns — from foundations to final decoration.
Chelmsford · All of Essex · North East London
Webb Construction Services Ltd is a Chelmsford building company covering everything from a full house extension down to the roof repair nobody else will come back for. Domestic work mostly, with commercial fit-outs alongside it. One firm, one point of contact, one price agreed in writing before we start.
What we do
Most builders want the big jobs and pass on the rest. We do both — and where a job needs a certified electrician or plumber, we bring in trades we have used for years and manage them ourselves. One firm, every trade, one price.
Single and double storey extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions and side returns — from foundations to final decoration.
Full house renovations, kitchens, bathrooms and period property work. Whole-property refurbs handled as one programme.
Ground-up residential builds and small developments, managed from site set-up through to handover.
Foundations, drainage, underpinning, steel beam installation and load-bearing alterations, with structural sign-off arranged.
Roof repairs, re-tiling, flat roof replacement, leaks traced and fixed, ridge and valley work.
Garden and boundary walls, repointing, piers, brick repairs and matching to existing brickwork.
Skimming, re-plastering, patch repairs and dry lining, ready for decoration.
Interior and exterior decorating, preparation done properly so the finish lasts.
LVT and laminate flooring supplied and laid, including subfloor preparation and levelling.
Replacement UPVC fascias and soffits, new guttering and downpipes, blockages and overflows sorted.
Pubs, bars and small commercial premises — joinery, bar builds, flooring and decoration, programmed around your opening hours so you stay trading.
Handled by certified, fully qualified subcontractors we have worked with for years — arranged, scheduled and managed as part of your job.
Why us
Everyone has heard the story about the builder who took the deposit and disappeared. Here is exactly how we work, so you can judge us before you commit to anything.
A start date is agreed in writing and we work to it. If something moves — weather, materials, building control — you hear it from us first, not after the fact.
Your quote breaks down labour, materials and timescales. No day-rate creep and no "while we were in there" invoices at the end.
You pay against completed stages, not up front. Nobody should be asked to hand over thousands before a wall is touched.
Building regulations, structural calculations and building control inspections arranged and dealt with as part of the job.
Ask and we will give you addresses of recent work locally and the customers' numbers. Go and look at it.
If something fails because of how we fitted it, we come back and put it right at no cost for a full year. We are ten minutes away, and small jobs later on get the same attention as the big one.
How it works
Ring, or send the form with a few details and photos if you have them. We will tell you honestly whether it is a job for us.
We come out at a time that suits, measure up, talk through options and flag anything that will affect cost — drains, levels, structure, access.
An itemised quote with a realistic programme, usually within a few days. No pressure and no obligation.
Start date confirmed, materials ordered, and any building control or structural work arranged before we break ground.
Site kept tidy and secure, neighbours considered, and a straight answer every week on where the job is against the programme.
We walk the job with you, fix the snag list, clear the site and hand over certificates and product warranties. Your 12-month workmanship guarantee starts here.
Recent work
Real jobs, our own photographs. Where we have the before shot as well, it's next to the after — because on a lot of this work the before is the reason someone picked up the phone.

Whole front elevation stripped and re-clad, roof works and new windows throughout. Scaffold up in the summer, finished and cleared by the autumn.

Bar rebuilt and refinished with a solid oak top, panelled walls and a printed front, worked around the pub's opening hours.

Full kitchen refit with the chimney breast opened up and the brickwork left exposed.

Rotten timber frames and failing brickwork taken out, wall rebuilt, new windows fitted and the whole run of guttering and fascia replaced.

Perished felt, slipped slates and rotten timber at the verge. Stripped back, made good, new fascia, hopper and downpipe.

Small bathroom stripped and refitted — shower enclosure, tiling, flooring and towel rail.

Ground dug out, base laid and Indian sandstone set with a curved edge to follow the lawn.

Rooms taken back to bare subfloor, made level, and new flooring laid through.

The collage front being applied by hand, panel by panel.
Checking us out
The best way to judge a builder isn't a quote they've typed onto their own website. It's a finished job, and the person who paid for it.
Ask us and we will give you:
Where we work
We are local. That matters more than it sounds — it means a site visit this week, materials on site quickly, and someone who can come back if you need us in a year's time.
Not on the list? Ring anyway — if we cover it, we will say so, and if we don't we will tell you straight.
Straight answers
No. The site visit and the written quote are free, and there is no obligation afterwards. If we are not the right firm for the job we will say so.
Yes — public liability insurance is in place on every job and we are happy to send the certificate through before you commit to anything.
Payments are staged against completed work, agreed in the quote before we start. We do not ask for large deposits before work begins.
Yes. Structural calculations, building control applications and inspections are arranged as part of the job on any work that needs them.
Our own workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from sign-off — if something fails because of how we fitted it, we come back and put it right at no cost. Materials and fittings carry their manufacturer's own warranties, and we hand that paperwork to you at handover. Separately from any guarantee, you have six years under the Limitation Act to raise a problem with the work.
It depends on size, ground conditions and approvals, but most single storey extensions run to a few months on site. You get a realistic programme with your quote, not an optimistic one.
Yes. Roof repairs, guttering, plastering, decorating and flooring are all part of what we do, not favours squeezed in around bigger work.
